We loved this lakefront home so much, that after renting it for two years worth of summer vacations, we bought it! This cozy, private cottage was where I learned how to relax … I hope it has the same effect for you.
The main living area of the home (living, dining and kitchen) is open-concept, with cathedral ceilings, a skylight and ceiling fan. Enjoy the sunny upper deck from one of the luxurious chaise lounge chairs, while soaking up the view of the lake. Or, spend your time in the screened-in gazebo porch, overlooking the private dock and water frontage. The cabin sleeps 6+ in two/three bedrooms on two levels, and with so many indoor and outdoor places to enjoy, there’s plenty of room to spread out and find your own little haven.
With over 240 feet of water frontage on Lake Horace, you couldn’t ask for more privacy. The house is tucked into a cove, surrounded by woods and directly across the lake from conservation land owned by the famed Tiffany family, so your view is of lake and old-growth forest. Meander down the rock path lined with attractive perennial plantings to the private dock, perfect for fishing, reading, or launching the provided canoe for a lazy tour of the lake. The dock is perfect for jumping off, and the water is deep and safe for this. Or, wade into the lake from the small beach area and float the day away on a noodle. You might even get a visit from the resident turtle or blue heron, who like to visit the dock in early mornings.
It’s a great walking neighborhood, with trails for hiking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. Close to skiing, hiking and other area sights to see.
You’ll feel completely away from all the hustle and bustle of real life, but with a full kitchen, propane grill, washer/dryer, fireplace/wood stove, you won’t feel like you’re “roughing it.” Lots of books to read for private time, and board games for fun family time. Free Wi-Fi, HDTV, and lots of DVDs. Perfect for water-loving families and romantic getaways alike.
